Universal machine

In 1936, Alan Turing published a paper in which he proved that a digital computer can calculate everything that is possible to calculate. He called it a Universal Machine. A machine that could simulate, and therefore replace, any other machine. According to Turing, even the human brain, provided its functioning could be logically explained and therefore calculable, could be replaced by a computer. Nine years after his paper, the first digital computer appeared. It was the beginning of today's information revolution.
